Libby Cozza, of Metta Massage, has been a massage therapist here in Portland for almost 20 years. She graduated from the 600-hour program at Portland's East West College of the Healing Arts in 2004. Since graduating, she has taken over 800 additional hours in Deep Tissue, Thai Massage, Tui Na, Pregnancy Massage, Shiatsu, Reflexology, Cupping and Indian Facial Massage.
She continued her training of Thai Massage studying at The Naan Jai Center for Thai Massages and ITM( International Training Massage) in Chang Mai, Thailand . She also learned the art of Tok Sen; the use of a hammer and stick to stimulate the Qi, while in Thailand at Loh Kroi School in Chang Mai.
Libby believes that massage is an essential part of maintaining good health. She has a holistic approach to massage; believing everything is connected and emphasizing the importance of taking care of the whole to fix the parts. Her massages are both comforting and therapeutic. She often incorporates yoga stretches and encourages her clients to make stretching a part of their daily routine.
Having been a dancer, a runner, and an athlete her whole life, Libby brings a knowledge of the body, and an understanding of the needs and workings of the muscular skeletal system, to her massages. She truly believes that receiving regular massages is both physically and mentally healing.
Libby chose the name Metta for her business because of it's deep meaning;
"Through Metta one refuses to be offensive and renounces bitterness, resentment and animosity of every kind, developing instead a mind of friendliness, accommodativeness and benevolence which seeks the well-being and happiness of others"
